A Community of Peace- A Sunday Reflection

And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.
— Luke 23:42-43

When we disobeyed God, we robbed peace from the garden. Not only did we betray God, but we betrayed ourselves. We robbed ourselves an opportunity for true shalom (peace).

The beauty is that the first person Jesus assures that peace would be restored was a common thief. We robbed peace and life from God's garden and he robbed sin and death from our desert.

The Kingdom of Truer Shalom was born that day by the death of the King of Thieve's. The Thief King Jesus who robbed the power of death and sin from the world. Jesus' new kingdom is better than the garden of Eden, his kingdom is where a thief is no longer a thief, because the King of Thieve's  turned all the thieves of men, into his very own sons and daughters.
