No person has changed the course of history more than Jesus of Nazareth. More books have been written about Him, more lives have been transformed by Him, and more debates have centered around Him than anyone who has ever lived. But Jesus isn't simply an important figure from history—He claimed to be the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the only way to know God. If His claims are true, they change everything.

Jesus once asked His followers,

"Who do you say I am?" (Matthew 16:15)

​

More than two thousand years later, that question still matters because how we answer it shapes our understanding of God, ourselves, the purpose of life, and our eternal destiny.

​

Jesus Was a Real Person

Unlike many ancient religious figures, Jesus is not merely a legend or myth. The life of Jesus is one of the best-attested events in ancient history.

​

In addition to the New Testament accounts—written by eyewitnesses and those closely connected to them—non-Christian historians such as Tacitus and Josephus also recorded that Jesus lived, taught throughout Israel, gathered followers, and was crucified under the Roman governor Pontius Pilate.

 

Virtually every serious historian agrees that Jesus existed. The real question is not whether Jesus lived, but who He was.

Jesus Claimed to Be More Than a Great Teacher

​

Many people admire Jesus as a wise teacher, a moral example, or a great prophet. While He certainly was all of those things, Jesus never left us with the option of seeing Him as only a good teacher.

 

He claimed to forgive sins, receive worship, judge the world, and give eternal life. Throughout the Gospel of John, Jesus described Himself as:

• The Bread of Life

• The Light of the World

• The Good Shepherd

• The Resurrection and the Life

• The Way, the Truth, and the Life

Perhaps His boldest claim came when He declared, "Before Abraham was, I AM." (John 8:58)

By using the name "I AM," Jesus identified Himself with the very name God revealed to Moses in Exodus 3. His listeners understood exactly what He was claiming, not simply to represent God, but to be God.

​

This is why Christians believe Jesus is fully God and fully man—the eternal Son of God who entered history to rescue humanity.

​

Jesus Backed Up His Claims

 

Anyone can claim to be God.

​

Jesus uniquely supported His claims through His life.

​

He fulfilled ancient prophecies written centuries before His birth, performed miracles that demonstrated His authority over sickness, nature, evil, and even death, lived a completely sinless life, willingly died on the cross, and rose from the dead three days later.

 

The resurrection is the defining event of Christianity. It transformed frightened followers into courageous witnesses who spent the rest of their lives proclaiming that Jesus was alive—even when it cost them their freedom and, for many, their lives.

 

If Jesus truly rose from the dead, then His claims deserve our attention.

 

Why Did Jesus Come?

Jesus didn't come merely to start a religion or teach people how to live better lives.

He came because every one of us is separated from God by sin, a problem we cannot solve on our own.

​

The Bible tells us that God created us to know Him, love Him, and enjoy a relationship with Him. Yet every one of us has chosen our own way instead of God's. The result is guilt, brokenness, suffering, and ultimately separation from the God who gives life.

 

But God didn't leave us there.

 

Out of His great love, God sent His Son to do what we could never do for ourselves. Jesus lived the perfect life we failed to live and died the death we deserved. On the cross, He willingly took the punishment for our sin so that everyone who trusts in Him could be completely forgiven, reconciled to God, and given eternal life.

 

Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating sin and death forever and proving that He is exactly who He claimed to be.

​

Christianity is not ultimately about following a set of rules, trying harder, or becoming a better person. It is about knowing a Person, Jesus Christ, who came to seek and save those who are lost and restore them to the God who created them.

​

Why Does Jesus Matter Today?

​

Because Jesus is alive today...

• You can know God personally.

• You can be completely forgiven.

• You can find lasting hope, peace, and purpose.

• You can experience freedom from guilt and shame.

• You can begin a new life today.

• You can have the assurance of eternal life.

​

Jesus understands our pain because He entered our broken world. He offers grace instead of condemnation, hope instead of despair, and life instead of death.  He also promises that one day He will return to judge evil, make all things new, and establish His eternal Kingdom where sin, suffering, and death will be no more.

 

The Most Important Question You'll Ever Answer

​

Every person eventually must answer the same question Jesus asked His first followers.

"Who do you say I am?" (Matthew 16:15)

​

Your answer to that question is the most important decision you'll ever make because it shapes both your life today and your eternity.

​

The Bible declares that Jesus is the Son of God, the promised Messiah, the Savior of the world, and the risen King who alone can forgive sin, reconcile us to God, and give eternal life.

​

The invitation of Jesus is open to everyone.  No matter your past, your questions, your doubts, or your failures, Jesus invites you to come to Him in faith.

 

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
