No person has changed the course of history more than Jesus of Nazareth. But Jesus is more than an influential figure from the past. He claimed to be the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the only way to know God. If His claims are true, they change everything.

Jesus once asked His followers, “Who do you say I am?” (Matthew 16:15). More than two thousand years later, that remains one of life’s most important questions.

​

Jesus Was a Real Person

​

Jesus is not merely a legend or myth. His life is well-attested in ancient history. In addition to the New Testament accounts, non-Christian writers such as Tacitus and Josephus confirm important details about His life and death.

​

Virtually every serious historian agrees that Jesus existed. The real question is who He is.

 

Jesus Claimed to Be More Than a Teacher

​

Many admire Jesus as a wise teacher, moral example, or prophet. But Jesus claimed much more. He claimed to have the power to forgive sin, received worship, and promised eternal life. 

​

Jesus declared this truth to a group of hypocritical religious leaders:  “Before Abraham was, I AM.” (John 8:58)

​

Jesus was identifying Himself with the God revealed in Scripture. Christians therefore believe that Jesus is fully God and fully man; the eternal Son of God who entered our world to rescue us.

​

Jesus Backed Up His Claims

​

Jesus supported His claims through His life. He fulfilled ancient prophecies, performed miracles, lived without sin, willingly died on the cross, and rose from the dead three days later.

​

The resurrection stands at the center of Christianity. After seeing Jesus resurrected, Jesus’ frightened followers became courageous witnesses who proclaimed that He was alive, even when doing so would cost many of them their lives. If Jesus truly rose from the dead, His claims demand our attention.

Why Did Jesus Come?

​

Jesus did not come merely to start a religion or teach us to live better lives. He came to rescue us.

God created us to know and enjoy Him, but each of us has chosen our own way instead of His. The Bible calls this sin, and it separates us from the God who gives life.

​

But God did not leave us there.

​

Jesus lived the perfect life we failed to live and died the death we deserved. On the cross, He took the punishment for our sin so that everyone who trusts in Him can be forgiven, reconciled to God, and given eternal life. Three days later, He rose from the dead, defeating the curse of sin and the power of death.

Christianity is not ultimately about trying harder or becoming a better person. It is about knowing Jesus Christ, who came to seek and save the lost.

Why Does Jesus Matter Today?

​

Because Jesus is alive, you can know God personally, be completely forgiven, experience lasting hope and purpose, and have the assurance of eternal life.

​

Jesus offers grace instead of condemnation, hope instead of despair, and life instead of death. He also promises to return, make all things new, and establish His eternal Kingdom.

​

The Most Important Question

​

Jesus still asks: “Who do you say I am?” (Matthew 16:15)

​

The Bible declares that Jesus is the Son of God, the promised Messiah, the Savior of the world, and the risen King who alone can reconcile us to God.

​

His invitation is open to everyone. No matter your past, questions, doubts, or failures, Jesus invites you to come to Him in faith:

​

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
