About us

Our Purpose

We exist to make, mature, and multiply disciples of Jesus.

Matthew 28:18–20 • Colossians 1:28–29 • 2 Timothy 2:2

Our Pillars

Everything we do is built upon these three pillars as we seek to fulfill our purpose.

Worship

Glorifying God through a life of wholehearted worship.

Worship is more than music—it is a life centered on the glory of God. We gather around God’s Word and respond to Him with prayer, praise, obedience, and lives surrendered to Him.

Community

Becoming a family of friends following Jesus together.

Following Jesus was never meant to be done alone. We seek to become a family of friends where people across generations are known, loved, encouraged, and challenged to grow in Christ.

Mission

Declaring good news to our neighbors and the nations.

The gospel is not good advice about what we must do for God; it is good news about what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. We joyfully proclaim that news to our neighbors and the nations, inviting others to repent, believe, and find new life in Him.

Our Pursuits

Following Jesus shapes both what we believe and how we live. Though we practice none of these perfectly, these six pursuits describe the kind of people we desire to become through God’s grace.

Love Genuinely

We love others because Christ first loved us, and we desire to reflect His grace, truth, and compassion in every relationship. Genuine love is more than words; it is demonstrated through sacrificial actions that point others to Jesus.

Scripture: John 13:34–35; Romans 12:9–10; 1 John 4:19

Cultivate Unity

Because we have been united in Christ, we are committed to preserving the unity of His church through humility, grace, forgiveness, and love. We choose reconciliation over division so that our life together reflects the gospel we proclaim.

Scripture: Ephesians 4:1–3; John 17:20–23; Colossians 3:12–14

Walk Humbly

We recognize that every good gift comes from God, so we seek to put Jesus first, consider others before ourselves, and serve with humility. We depend on God's grace, not our own strength, as He makes us more like Christ.

Scripture: Philippians 2:3–8; Micah 6:8; 1 Peter 5:5–6

Live Faithfully

We desire to faithfully follow Jesus by submitting every area of our lives to the authority of God's Word. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we pursue obedience that honors Christ in every season of life.

Scripture: James 1:22–25; Colossians 3:17; John 14:15

Practice Hospitality

We joyfully open our homes, tables, and lives to welcome others with the same grace Christ has shown us. Hospitality creates opportunities for people to experience the love of Jesus through genuine community.

Scripture: Romans 12:13; 1 Peter 4:8–10; Hebrews 13:2

Give Generously

We joyfully steward everything God has entrusted to us—our time, talents, and resources—for His glory and the good of others. We give with grateful hearts, trusting that God uses generosity to advance His kingdom, strengthen the church, and bless those in need.

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9:6–8; Acts 20:35; 1 Timothy 6:17–19

Why Golden?

Golden, Colorado is a unique community where small-town character, a vibrant local downtown, a college campus, and an active outdoor lifestyle come together at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. It is a place where people live, study, work, relax, and play.  Students from around the world attend the Colorado School of Mines, local businesses shape the city's character, and residents and visitors alike enjoy the mountains, trails, and outdoors.

We believe God planted Golden City Church here to show His love to this community by building genuine relationships with our neighbors, serving families and students, engaging the college campus, supporting our local community, and sharing the good news of Jesus throughout our city.

Why “Golden City Church”?

Before it became known simply as Golden, our community was called Golden City. We chose that name because it reflects both our love for this city and our hope in a greater one.

Hebrews 13:14 reminds us, “For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.” Through Jesus, our ultimate home is the eternal city God is preparing for His people.

That future hope doesn’t cause us to withdraw from the city where God has placed us—it frees us to invest our lives here. We want to know our neighbors, serve our community, proclaim the good news of Jesus, and make disciples who faithfully follow Him.

Golden City Church reminds us to hold these two truths together: we are deeply committed to the city where God has planted us, while ultimately living for the city that is to come.
